The old guardhouse is filled with belongings from adventurers who have never returned from their quests. 4. 'I guess you have been to Westbridge and know of the tragedy of our two towns. I have been trying for years to duplicate the explosion... created by the Crostrum brothers which welded the staff and orb together to create the Lifegiver. If by chance the items are found, but Alinster is not, we need a way to reunite them once again. The brothers left no notes on their experiments, which I guess may have been wise. At least we know the Lifegiver cannot be used by evil for their purposes.' 7. This well can no longer be used by the residents of Red Larch. Since the disappearance of the Lifegiver, its waters remain cursed. 17. You surprise a woman preparing dinner for her family. 'Oh, Hello! I thought my husband was finally home. He spends too much time looking for the rumored secret tunnels. Ever since the last Feast of Life, he has dedicated his life to recovering the lost lifegiver. You see, it was the only thing that kept us alive for years. Now that it is gone, we must travel far for our water. I was hoping he'd be home by now. One day, I fear, the tunnels will collapse and I shall be left alone without hope or family. 18. A caustic smell emanating from underground causes you to temporarily black out. When you awake, you find yourself off your path and lost. to (8,2) 19. What mysteries are contained here? All these people have tried to no avail to discover the missing Staff of Health and Orb of Life. Not one has found a clue to their whereabouts. Even if you are lucky enough to find these items, what good are they unless we find Alinster to weld them back together?' He shakes his head in despair and adds your name to the list. 35. 'Hail! You have a need for one of our handmade harnessess?' inquires the beaming shopkeeper. 'Show your work Sklaen.' 'Aye, Alaglath.' replies Sklaen. 'This one is almost finished.' You admire the workmanship, but indicate that you were interested in information about the well. They seem disappointed and can only add that many adventurers have walked these paths to no avail. 36. A grim faced man working on a wagon in the back doesn't notice you, but a woman turns as you enter the business. 'I am sorry, but we have nothing to sell right now. Everything has been sold or stolen by those leaving or those here trying to find the Lifegiver. It will be some time and by then...' She stops as the tears well in her eyes. You mumble your apologies and leave. 37. The opening you walked through has disappeared. 38. The sun shines brightly through the trees for a few seconds, making you shade your eyes. 39. You hear the sound of an approaching horse but cannot tell how far away until suddenly a horse as black as coal is charging at you from around the corner.
